Is there a dress code?
Yes - formal. This means suits for men and formal, floor-length dresses for women.
What will the weather be like?
Highlands is beautiful, but it is North Carolina in the winter. Average temperatures are a low of 25° and a high of 52°.
Our ceremony and reception will be indoors, but cocktail hour will be outdoors. Heaters will be present, and indoor fireplaces will be lit.
Are kids welcome?
Yes! We love our friends and all of their kids, so we'd love for this to be a weekend mountain getaway for your family. At the same time though, there is an open bar, so it's up to your discretion to explain what the adults are drinking and why they're dancing so bad. :)
Will transportation be provided between the to and from the hotel, ceremony and reception?
Yes - there will be an Old Edwards Passenger Van and an Old Edwards Passenger Coach to take people to and from the venue. These vehicles will be available from 3pm - 11pm. Further details will be incuded in your formal invitation.
*Please note Uber is very limited in Highlands.
Should I bring a gift to your destination wedding?
First, thank you! If you'd like to bring a gift, we will make sure it gets back home to us. However, if it's easier for you, you can ship it directly to us via our Registry.
Will there be any gluten-free or special diet options?
Of course! Old Edwards has several incredible chefs from its various restaurants, and we want everyone to enjoy the delicious food we've selected. You can let us know in your RSVP if you need any specific diet needs met.
When is the RSVP deadline? Do I need to mail back my RSVP or can I do it online?
We need all RSVPs submitted by September 5, 2025, please!
We look forward to welcoming everyone that can make it.
Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend I stay?
We have a room block at both Old Edwards Inn and Old Edwards 200 Main Hotel. These blocks are for the nights of Thursday, December 4th and Friday, December 5th. Both of these room blocks are limited and guests will receive the best available rate. To reserve either of these, you must call each hotel directly and mention you're a guest of the Gruenenfelder wedding.
If you're unable to stay at either hotel, we recommend staying at Skyline Lodge, which is pet-friendly and our favorite in the area. However, the area is beautiful and a great opportunity to enjoy a cabin via Airbnb or VRBO.
Can I bring a plus one?
Unfortunately, we have a strict guest list. Our celebration is strictly RSVP only. We will only be able to accommodate the guest count accounted for on your wedding invitation.
How do I get to the wedding venue? Is there parking or do I need to arrive another way?
Parking at The Farm is very limited and reserved for vendors and a few select guests. We will provide transportation via Old Edwards passenger vehicles—more detailed information to follow in your formal invite.
What time should I arrive?
Our ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00 pm, and the gate will close right on time. We recommend arriving by 4:45 to ensure you have time to settle into your seat. Old Edwards passenger vehicles will begin running at 3 pm to accommodate everyone.
What happens after the ceremony?
After the ceremony, cocktail hour will begin at 5:30 pm. After that, we welcome you into what we're calling our most special dinner party, where we will commence with dancing, drinks, and dessert.
We do have a late-night surprise for all of our guests.
How do I get to Highlads, NC?
If you're able to drive, we recommend that so you can take in the beautiful views of NC. However, if you need to fly, either CLT or ATL will be your best option.
